My vision is to bring the French language and culture to life for our youngest most impressionable learners through real world educational experience...living with a French family, going to a french school, eating French foods, watching French TV, looking out French windows at French landscapes. Really being there using all the senses. Taking that experience back to your schools and community. Makig a real connection and global partnership. To fund this vision, I need to make a local partnership with a French company....

My vision is to add in as many digital resources as possible into my classroom. In using these resources I will make my classroom more global by incorporating music, film, French radio/TV from different websites and sources. I want to make my classroom more student centered rather than teacher centered. Ultimately I am really interested in beginning partnerships with local companies to receive monies to be able to create travel opportunities for my students who would otherwise not be able to travel abroad.

My vision is to assist my students in obtaining an equitable educational experience and become 21st century learners by giving them their first experience on college/university campuses. My mission is to find funding to allow us to take our students to at least six colleges/universities this year to set their vision in motion. Giving them the opportunity to see other college students at work and converse with the students will allow them touch their dream of going to college.

Vision: An exchange program with a "sister" IB school in Europe (Brussels?) and a trip customized to my specifications (service-learning component?). Students will learn about the EU, develop travel skills, and forge international relationships through 21st CENTURY EXPERIENCE and a NEW WORLD PERSPECTIVE.

Mission: As I work on completing the "Getting to Know Europe" paperwork, I will...
1. Find a sister school and establish working relationship.
2. Find community business partners/investors.
3. Educate my students about the EU (and the importance of our Trans-Atlantic Relationship).
4. Found a "Europe Day" celebration at Millbrook.

I have many visions... dreams.... passions. Travel is just one among many. In terms of the experience this week at NCCAT and its connection to students ..... my vision is (so far) as follows:

Young people MUST enter the world with empathy for others; understanding for their role(s) in this planetary society culture and economy; understandings of the impact their behavior has on the world and other people; and hopefully a passion to be a productive global citizen. It is my hope that at Early College in Asheville, we can provide a richer environment for learning about the world as it is now, what it may become and where it has been. As a part of that learning, the opportunity to make global connections in a face to face experiential way through travel and service learning can be had through traveling to other places, whether it is within our own shores or across borders.

My vision for this week at NCCAT is to formulate an action plan for global experiences that begins locally with research and outreach to build cultural competence, cross curricular experiences, planning and preparing for responsible global interactions and the potential for seeking partnerships for accessing needed resources. The long term vision includes an ongoing plan for global exploration and engagement.

I think that many school districts undervalue the usefulness of French. My vision is to demonstrate how studying French language can not only add a new linguistic skill and global awareness by studying all the various francophone cultures around the world, but also provide increased access to English vocabulary and other content classes through cross-curricula lesson plans. My dream classroom would incorporate numerous real world opportunities to use French in authentic situations...whether here or abroad. I like the idea of having a regular "Skype date" with francophone students, for example. I want to open the possibility of travel to Europe and other francophone countries to students of all economic levels...travel is such a powerful learning tool and it should not just be a privilege for wealthy kids. I can't remember the exact quote, but Mark Twain noted in Innocent's Abroad that travel was hazardous to prejudice, bigotry and small-mindedness. Seeing how others live shows us that there is not one "right" way to do anything and can force one to rethink all the "idées recues" that are part and parcel of any culture. I would love to be able to establish an exchange program so students could experience the culture on a deeper level than is possible as a typical tourist and be able to forge bonds of understanding with the people they encounter abroad.

My vision is to get funding to help my students explore outside of Winston-Salem to change their world forever. I want them to gain cultural understanding in a more personal way through a homestay with a family in Europe (possibly France, Switzerland or Belgium). These students do not have the means to be able to travel overseas and I have seen how it changed lives when they came back. If I get the grant, it will provide an equitable educational experience to travel.
Also, those students that I invite to participate in this cultural exchange will have some criteria to be accepted- I will use this as a motivational tool.
Alos, I want to use this as a mean of bringing more Internationalsim in my scholl (school wide) because that is a theme that we have. I think that having a Europe day will fit this idea. I want to get a team of teachers at my school to help with this idea. In this way, it also will serve as an interdisciplinary study across the curriculum.

I think the idea of "explore outside" of W-S... or Asheville.. or the South.. .or their street is SO critical!

My vision is for NCCAT to continue to develop the partnership with Robin and the Europenan Union and to develop an exciting exchange program for teachers. It sure would be great for teachers from Europe to experience the kinds of in-residence professional development that is available through NCCAT. It would be great for them to learn about the culture of North Carolina from the mountains to the sea. And it would be awesome for teachers form North Carolina to experience the wonders of Europe and get a first-hand look at the educational system in Europe.
